First Verse
Hiram was a farmer from way up the state He came to the city and
thought it was great. He brought his bank-roll and his best Sunday
suit, And when he doll'd all up, Oh! he was cute! Hiram met a
stranger, one night on Broadway And of course she took him in to
a cafe; People dancing there; Hiram said, "I declare! That's my
middle, ding bust it!"

Second Verse
Hiram said, "I'm out just to have a good time, I don't care for
money so "zip" goes a dime! I'll send a wire up home and tell them
right now, If you are short of change why just sell a cow!" Ev'ry
time the music would give him a chance, Hiram grab'd a chicken
and started to dance. He'd yell "This is great!" I'll learn to
hesitate, If I break a leg, by golly!"

Chorus
Come on and dance with me, Come on and dance with me, I feel as
young as a boy! I want to learn each gol darn step that they do
Teach me ev'ry one that is new! I want to learn the whirls, Dance
with the pretty girls, Don't mind the steps that I miss; (Spoken) I'll
get it!
Here's where I'm going to stay, I'll give the farm away,
Home was never like this!

Words by J. E. Dempsey
Music by Earl Burtnett and
Jos. A. Burke

Jerome H. Remick & Co.
New York and Detroit

First Verse
I can see two eyes where in the lovelight gleams, In my dreams,
in my dreams. I can hear a voice, as sweet as singing streams,
Calling me, it seems. O'er the old lagoon I see the glow worm
playing, Shoreward I can see the shelt'ring palm trees
swaying, While from afar I can hear a guitar, Someone keeps
softly saying:

Second Verse
Dreamy eyes are watching on a south sea isle, All the while, all
the while. Pretty lips are waiting with a wistful smile, My heart
to be guile. Softer than the water in the fountain falling,
Sweeter than an angel's evening song enthralling, Whisp'ring
to me of a blue, singing sea, Nightly a voice is calling:

Chorus
Come where the moon is always shining, Down Honolulu way;
Come where the Palm trees sway, Nighttime is just like day.
And, while the sweet guitars are ringing, We'll dream the
night away, Where the moonbeams play on the distant bay,
Down Honolulu way.

First Verse
I call my sweetheart "Baby," She calls me "Baby," too,
When there's anyone near us, We never let them hear us,
But for embraces I know just where my place is:

Second Verse
It seems my own sweet baby, Just loves to baby me.
Tho' we both are grown up, We refuse to own up
She's like a mother, How we do love each other:

Chorus
My baby's arms, Hold all my charms, My baby's eyes of blue,
Just seem to thrill me, And fill me with a new sensation,
My baby's smile, There all the while; And if she'd tell me
to stay, I'd like to snuggle away, And dream forever
In my baby's arms.

You Can't Get Along

Words by Grant Clarke
Music by Fred Fischer

Leo Feist Inc.
Feist Building

First Verse
I think the married men are gettin' a trimmin', And still I hate
to knock the beautiful women, Oh, gee! what can the trouble be?
You read, of course, every day some divorce, No matter, where
you go you hear of a scandal, Why are the women getting harder
to handle? Who's to blame, who's to blame? Love is a terrible
game:

Second Verse
I know a lot of men who never will leave 'em, And then a lot of
men who never believe 'em, Oh, my! how they can tell a lie; Look
in your eye, and deny and deny, They get excited, then you pet
'em and salve 'em, Where would we be today if we didn't have
'em? Cold as ice then they're nice, Some fellows marry them
twice.

Chorus
You can't get along when you're with 'em or without 'em, Girls,
right or wrong, there is something nice about 'em, They're
stubborn and contrary, expensive, Still, they're very necessary;
Each little peach has a way that's so endearing, Oh, how your
dough has a way of disappearing, You know the world is saying,
"we need 'em," And still the other half is praying for freedom,
You can't get along when you're with 'em or without 'em, You've
got to have 'em, that's all!

Chorus 2
You can't get along when you're with 'em or without 'em, Girls,
right or wrong, there is something nice about 'em, They're
stubborn and contrary, expensive, Still, they're very necessary;
Each little peach has a way that's so endearing, Oh, how your
dough has a way of disappearing, Just when you treat 'em nice,
they leave you, they hate you, You always take 'em back, it's old
Human Nature, You
can't get along when you're with 'em or
without 'em, You've got to have 'em, that's all!

First Verse
Oh my dear, don't you hear the latest music hit? Oh gee!
the orchestra is playing it. That is not a Rubenstein
composed in F Its a song from the pen of Mutt and Jeff. Let's
two step and dance in old Havana style Just act like you were
made of rubber, chile, Glide along the floor and slide your
feet a little bit, That's it.

Second Verse
Oh dear hon, won't you nestle to your lovie dove? Just rest
your little hand upon my glove; When I get to going 'round
the shiny floor, Babe, I'd just die to dance a little more. Oh,
my word I'm full of loving heart complaint, Just place your
tootsies where your papa's aint Then you start to swayin' to
the playin' of the band, That's grand!

Chorus
Everybody two step and grab a girlie girl, Everybody two step
and do the twirly whirl, Shake your feet with all your might,
Everybody two step and two step right. If you want to two step
just like a Polar bear, Everybody does it, Nobody ought to
care; Everybody wiggle waggle Then you make a bow.
Everybody two step now.

New York

First Verse
I'm in love with you, but I'll admit, I've told the same tale o'er
To a lot of girls, but I'll admit, 'twas never meant before.
Like every boy, I've loved a few, 'tis true, But never with a
love I feel for you; So I think for future happiness, My past I
should confess.

Second Verse
If a fellow says he loves you, and he's never said the same To
another girl, if you believe him, you're the one to blame.
When love is true each thought you would confide, When
love is true there's naught that you could hide; So to prove
my love is not a-miss, Is why I tell you this.

Chorus
There's a girl in Havana, There's a girl in Savannah, I've
wooed a few sweet girlies who I promised to be true to, But
then I never knew, dear, That I'd ever meet you, dear, So let's
forget the girls I met Before I met you.

I Know I Got More Than
My Share

Howard Johnson

Leo Feist Inc.

First Verse
To every one beneath the sun, God sends his blessings down,
Like dew they fall upon us all, in every home they're found, To
some a name, to others fame, His gifts are every where, The
poor man and the rich a like, will both receive their share.

Second Verse
Through life we go and never know what future years may
hold, The skies of gray may fade away and some day turn to
gold, So don't complain there's naught to gain, just learn to
live and love, We all must wait to learn our fate, and trust to
Him above.

Chorus
God gives the wise men their wisdom, sends all the poets their
dreams To father and mother their love for each other we all
get a share, so it seems I thought that I was forgotten My life
was an empty affair, But He thought of me too, and when God
gave me you, I know I got more than my share.
